We met nearly 17 years ago when we were cast in an improv group. We didn’t hit it off initially, but when the show’s producer left, we ended up co-producing… the rest is history.
Since then, we’ve gone on countless trips together, won game shows together, been through the gamut of boyfriends, friends, jobs that have left us stranded. When we were at our most broke, TL would dye TJ’s hair in her bathroom. Naturally, when TJ got married, TL was her maid of honor; TJ “proposed” to her while TL was running a marathon (there’s a video). It was truly the most romantic moment of both of our lives.
Over our many years as best friends, we hear the same thing time and time again from friends and complete strangers alike: “You guys are so fun to listen to.” Though we share a love of many things, we often disagree on topics, but in the hashing out of our differing opinions, the way we get back to seeing eye to eye is generally funny.
All in all, our hope is that this is also an informative show to demonstrate the differing perspectives and that it’s okay to agree to disagree sometimes.
Tara Jean O’Brien
is a graduate of the University of Southern California with degrees in theater and political science. Hellbent on breaking into comedy, she also trained at the Groundlings, iO West, UCB and lots of other dark rooms around L.A. She had a two-woman comedy band called VOMIT, which played in various Los Angeles comedy clubs including becoming regulars at the Laugh Factory and the Improv.
She is currently on the Second City LA house long form team, “Brother Bradley,” the formerly iO West/current ACME sketch team, “Drug Money,” the short form house improv team at Flappers comedy club, the sketch team, “The Volcano” at The Ruby, as well as co-hosting her own character show called, “FUN-raiser!”
She is a former headline writer for The Onion, two different online web-series campaigns for Samsung, and currently is a contributing writer to SomeECards.com and Good.Is (Upworthy). She’s written sketches for many sketch teams and you can find some of her favorite ones with Hey Neighbor here.
Tara has also been a location manager for many years having worked on Key and Peele,Playing House, Nobodies, and Girlfriend’s Day starring Bob Odenkirk. She recently produced music videos for Harry Shearer’s character “Derek Smalls” of Spinal Tap. (Officially the coolest thing Tara could ever imagine.)
Film and television appearances include Conan O’Brien, Tosh.0, Teachers, General Hospital, and the cult horror hit, Rubber… which is NOT a porn.
Tina-Louise Eckert
is not a graduate of the University of Southern California, but she did get her first taste of doing improv and writing/performing her first monologue in an official USC show while “technically” and not “officially” enrolled there. She went on to play a foam $100 bill in a First Tennessee Bank commercial.
On her rise up to fame she performed with the improv troupe, “The People’s Republic of Improv,” and used those skills to go on to host, “The Limbo Show.” This was one of the first Triple Play Media platforms. Not only did she voice the opening jingle to show, but she got to cut her chops doing red carpet and man-on-the-street interviews in which she was strangely disarming and aggressive… at the same time.
Tina-Louise is also a very renowned fit model. Her talents of being “very proportional” have graced and formed the fashion brands such as Guess, BCBG, Halston, Citizens of Humanity, Forever 21, Kill City, Bebe, Lucky, Jessica Simpson, Hot Topic, Joie, William Rast, DSTLD, Badgley Mischka, and many, many more. She also speaks to the students at FIDM quarterly and helps to teach them industry expectations and how to work with a fit model.
She has gone on to do countless photoshoots for various brands but rarely gets to show her face. TL’s favourite joke is to say if she’s ever in a bar fight, aim for her face because her body makes all the money.
